Individual Therapy

A space that’s just for you.

You Don’t Have To Figure It Out Alone

If you're thinking about therapy, something has probably been weighing on you for a while. Maybe it's anxiety. A relationship that's gotten harder. A change you didn't expect. Or just a feeling that something's off and you can't quite name it.

That's enough to start.

Individual therapy is a space to slow down and look at what's actually going on — not just the surface stuff, but the patterns underneath. Your therapist will take time to understand your situation before anything else. From there, you work together on what matters most to you, at a pace that makes sense.

We see clients in person in Los Alamitos. Telehealth is also available throughout California if that works better for your life.

What is Individual Therapy?

The Basics

Individual therapy is one-on-one. Just you and a licensed therapist, working through what's going on, where it's coming from, and what to do about it.

It's not about being told what's wrong with you. It's about getting clear on what's happening and figuring out what might actually help.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Your therapist will take time to get to know you before anything else.

We start where you are.

What We Actually Do In Session

Approaches

Different things work for different people. There's no single method that works for everyone, so we don't pretend there is. Here's what we draw from:

  • Attachment-Based Therapy — looks at how your early relationships shaped the way you connect with people now

  • Trauma-Focused Therapy — for processing difficult experiences at a pace that feels safe

  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) — helps you identify what's happening underneath the surface, not just what's showing up on top

  • Mindfulness-Based Approaches — builds awareness and reduces reactivity in everyday life

  • Narrative Therapy — helps you look at the stories you carry about yourself and figure out which ones are actually true

  • …and more

Is Individual Therapy Right For You?

Individual therapy might be a good fit if:

  • Anxiety, depression, or stress has been following you around and you can't shake it

  • You're in the middle of a big change — a move, a loss, a breakup, a career shift — and you need somewhere to process it

  • You keep ending up in the same place in your relationships or your own behavior and you're not sure why

  • You want to understand yourself better and actually make it stick

  • You're the person everyone else leans on, and you need a space that's just for you

You don't need to be in crisis to start. A lot of people come in just wanting to feel better and function better. That's a completely valid reason.

  • Our therapists have specialized training across a range of approaches — not just one way of working

  • We provide affirming, culturally sensitive care and welcome LGBTQIA+ adults

  • Our therapists don't work in isolation. There's supervision and support behind every session

  • Same-week appoinments are available

  • We'll match you with the right therapist before your first session

  • In-person sessions in Los Alamitos. Telehealth available throughout California

  • We accept insurance and offer sliding-scale fees. See our Fees and Insurance page
