What to Expect From Me
As a therapist, my number one priority is safety. I believe meaningful change begins when we feel safe enough to slow down and notice what our minds, bodies, emotions, and relationships have been trying to communicate. Hidden beneath much of what our world identifies as “problems,” “symptoms,” or “disorders,” I often find very human attempts to cope. We find all kinds of ways to navigate life, and I don’t believe those ways are inherently good or bad. They may no longer serve us or may come at a high cost, but they developed to help us keep going.
My approach is relational, strengths-based, holistic, and trauma-informed. I value transparency, creativity, and autonomy, and believe there are as many ways to heal as there are people. What feels intuitive for one person may make absolutely no sense for another. I enjoy collaborating t create therapeutic experiences shaped by each person’s goals, strengths, and interests. A memory, activity, or seemingly ordinary idea can open the door to deeper exploration, connection, and meaning. This person-centered lens supports the natural integration of therapy into everyday life rather than another item on a to-do list or something reserved for a weekly session.
I provide neurodivergent-affirming care for autistic and ADHD individuals and their loved ones, including late diagnosis, masking, burnout, self-advocacy, accommodations, and social or sensory supports. Other areas of focus include substance use and behavioral addictions, co-occurring mental health concerns, and trauma and PTSD. I’m particularly drawn to experiences that are misunderstood, stigmatized, or difficult to say out loud, and welcome conversations people may have learned to edit, hide, or avoid. Across these areas, I consider the relationships and systems surrounding our experiences, recognizing that we hurt and heal in relation to others.
My clinical background spans community mental health, as well as residential, detox, and outpatient treatment settings, working with adults, couples, and families with children across developmental stages. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Collaborative Language Systems, and experiential therapies to honor each person’s pace and process. I am also certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which I offer in person when clinically appropriate.
Before becoming a therapist, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sonoma State University. Ten years later, I completed my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Alliant International University with a distinction in Chemical Dependency. The decade between those degrees clarified a career path I chose intentionally and continue to find deeply meaningful.
I see clients in person in Los Alamitos and via telehealth across California. I take private pay with sliding-scale fees, and Aetna, CalOptima, LA Care Health Plan, and Molina Healthcare of California insurance. I also accept Medi-Cal through these insurance plans.
